weekend snaps

Monday. Possibly the worst day of the week! Hope everyone had a great weekend! It always goes by so quickly. This past weekend was pretty busy! Friday I wanted to go out....so we told the cab driver to take us to Bloor West and we would randomly choose a place to eat! We walked past a very highly talked about Japanese Sake Bar called Guu, there was no line so we went in! SO DELISH! If you love Japanese and you like to share little plates this is the place {also very inexpensive!}! The food is great, the drinks are great and the atmosphere is lively and energetic! Saturday my friends were heading out for Halloween. I'm not a fan so I helped them all get ready! They all looked AMAZING as mermaids! Sunday, we try to go an experience all the different markets Toronto has to offer! Last weekend was China town this weekend was Korean! We wanted to make sushi so we headed to an amazing market that had everything and anything you would need! I always go crazy in those markets buying things I have no idea what to do with!!! Here are some iPhone snaps from the weekend!*

...the weekend in photos! {and my 26th!}

This past weekend was my 26th! Despite everything happening back home, we decided to head to Banff and try to have an amazing time ringing in my Birthday. The weather was perfect {as usual} we had a delicious meal at the Banff Grizzly House, which is a hilarious 70's swingers club turned fondue restaurant! {nothing has been changed since the 70's which adds to the experience}. We went hot tubing during the super moon, and stoked the fire! A very relaxing birthday weekend!  On my actual Birthday...{which was Monday} we made homemade sushi and ate way too many cupcakes!*

Friday Favorites*

T.G.I.F! This was a pretty interesting week. I was sick {and still am} for the majority, barley pulling half days at work...not sleeping and having a sick puppy and bf has made this week go so slowly. But the good news is....I was offered a new job! This was a huge stress relief! I actually felt like 100 pounds was lifted off my shoulders! In a previous post {here} I told you that myself and 5 other co-workers were being laid off come March 1st. With my upcoming trip to Ontario {5 days!!} I was totally stressed about money and coming back to unemployment! But not anymore! I'm so excited to be able to go back home and not worry about anything! This weekend is shaping up to be pretty low key, I need to get rid of this head cold so I'm not sick when I'm in Ontario. We plan on catching up on sleep, grabbing a few congratulatory Bulldogs from our favorite Mexican restaurant, Julio's Barrio and maybe celebrating an early Valentine's?! But for now here are my favorite things from this past week! Happy weekend everyone!*

Sophia Grace and Rosie rap on Ellen! {Click photo to watch}
Also watch for them on the Grammy's Red Carpet this Sunday!

If you can believe it, I've never had Creme Brulee before Monday night. We went to a French bistro, The Brasserie, as a send off dinner for my bf's mom and I gave in! It was so delicious, with the sweet crispy top and the fresh vanilla beans and fruit! Delicious!

So since I was sick at home all week {and day time T.V sucks} I browsed my video on demand selections and saw this one! One of my best friends would not stop talking about how amazing this movie was a few years back and I never got around to watching it! And she was right! Such a frustrating love story! If you haven't yet...do it!

I saw these Nine West Around Town Pumps on a blog called Fiction, Flight, & Everything Nice  {definitely check it out!} in a cranberry purple, and I fell in love! I couldn't find them on the Nine West website, but Melissa over at the blog sent me the link to Amazon where you can get them {for much cheaper!} I love how they look on her pair with her awesome green sweater!

The Artizia Spring 2012 look-book found it's way into my inbox! Everything looks so girly and wonderful! I can't wait for it to hit stores! {click the photo to browse the collection!)

Serendipity{3}

{This is going to be a really random post....but I stumbled upon a few things yesterday that made me think of this!}

For everyone who knows me well....you are aware of my love...{ok obsession} for John Cusack! The summer I worked at Jumbo Video, I made it my soul mission in life to watch every single John Cusack movie ever made!....I think I got through half {not too shabby!} But I think one of my all time favorite John movies {yes we are on a first name basis} next to High Fedility of course, is Serendipity! I loved the whole premis of the movie....! Meeting someone for a day...then searching the rest of your life for that one sign that will lead you back to the love of your life! I'm not usually such a mushy, romance movie kind of girl! But John and Kate Beckinsale {one of the most beauiful people on earth} mixed with New York city and the rush of finding eachother before making a terrible mistake {like getting married to the wrong person} makes this movie so wonderful for me!

On my trip to New York last summer, we made it our mission to visit key landmarks that stood out in our favorite T.V shows and movies! {Empire Hotel = Gossip Girl, Carrie Bradshaw's front stoop, the aprtment building from Friends, FAO Shwartz to play on the BIG piano, etc } Finally on our last day in NYC we ventured back into Central Park and made our way to the Wollman Rink {which in the summer was a carnival}. Home to the classic scene of John laying in the snow...and the glove comes floating down out of the sky, and everyone falls in love {watch here}! It was wonderful! Sadly, we didn't make it to the one landmark that I would die to go to....Serindipity3. I'm not sure why we never made it there {probably because we were too busy shopping} but I would love to sit in that restaurant...drink one of their famous Frozen Hot Chocolates and love life! I almost want to plan a trip back to the city specifically for this reason! Are there any landmarks from movies/T.V you would love to visit? or have visited?*

Friday Favorites*

It's FINALLY Friday....I don't know about you but this week went by way too slow...! Here are my 5 favorite things I saw/purchased/did this week! How was your work week? Did it also go by super slow?!*

Thursday morning when I went to use my bronzer....it had shattered into a million tiny pieces {so frustrating} So I've decided to take this opportunity to try out a new bronzer I've heard rave reviews about; Nars Laguna Bronzer! I'm going to get it on my lunch break so I'll let you guys know next week how I like it!

I saw this Rebecca Minkoff bag featured on Lauren Conrad's website and instantly fell in love with the shape, size and colour(s). It's also relativley inexpensive..as far as designer handbags go...$195. Perhaps when I get a new job this can be my congrautlations gift to myself!?

On Sunday I went for brunch with my friend Tamara to a cute little organic cafe called Farm.
This restaurant solely supports local suppliers from around Alberta, who deliver their products right to the front doors of the restaurant {so you know everything is going to be deliciously fresh!} This restaurant also has classic, farm, modern chic decor which we both loved. With big wood tables and classic chandeliers. I think my favorite of all were the cute tea cups and collector spoons!

I HATE to say it....but this movie was amazing! I'm not a Tom Cruise fan at all {I find him extreamly irritating in real life!} But, on Saturday night Jon dragged me to see this and I loved it! We saw it at the IMAX...{which I think might be the only way to see an action packed movie} and it felt as if we were in the movie! The action scene were amazing, Tom Curise was actually really good and I found myself at times gasping in shock and suspense...! I suggest you all go see it!

And of course... the Rachel Roy ankle booties. Enough said.
