weekend snaps!

This past weekend my boyfriend and I ventured off to Detroit. Not the most beautiful and safe place to be heading to but... it was his birthday...concert tickets were purchased...so Detroit! I really only have one thing to say about Detroit.....culture shock. People think Toronto is dangerous. I feel 1000 times safer here than I would ever feel in Detroit. The city is totally bankrupt and abandon. Buildings are falling apart businesses have totally relocated to other parts of Michigan and I didn't feel safe walking to my valet parked car, let alone walking downtown to the concert. But it was such a super fun weekend...our hotel room was amazing we stayed at the Motor City Hotel and Casio {felt like a mini Vegas}....with terry cloth robes, a mini bar, room service and a huge sunken bathtub.... I didn't leave the room except to go to the concert! Here are a few IPhone snaps!*

I did!

have to love the $10.00 magnum....!

weekend snaps

Friday night was pretty chill. We made homemade pizza which was the BEST yet, no photos because we ate it that quickly, drank wine and I fell asleep at 10pm {lame}! The city was JAMMED with things happening! I have never been to the Royal Winter Fair, so on Saturday we decided to venture over to the exhibition grounds....and brave our farm animal allergies to take in some farming culture! We ate a lot of samples, drank a lot of wine and learned how to judge cows...educational! Saturday night we went out for a late dinner then went to see Gravity at the IMAX. If you're in the mood for a stressful nail bitter of a movie...go see Gravity! The special effects are amazing, Sandra and George are great and the movie is S.T.R.E.S.S! Sunday, was pretty relaxing the sun finally decided to make an appearance and we took Effy to a dog park and drank some delicious coffee! Then we decided to make homemade chicken tenders {baked NOT fried!} {recipe based off Rachel Ray here} and a roasted beet and goat cheese salad {recipe based from here}. It was a delicious team effort!*

after MONTHS of procrastinating I finally got my Ontario plates!!

weekend snaps

Monday. Possibly the worst day of the week! Hope everyone had a great weekend! It always goes by so quickly. This past weekend was pretty busy! Friday I wanted to go out....so we told the cab driver to take us to Bloor West and we would randomly choose a place to eat! We walked past a very highly talked about Japanese Sake Bar called Guu, there was no line so we went in! SO DELISH! If you love Japanese and you like to share little plates this is the place {also very inexpensive!}! The food is great, the drinks are great and the atmosphere is lively and energetic! Saturday my friends were heading out for Halloween. I'm not a fan so I helped them all get ready! They all looked AMAZING as mermaids! Sunday, we try to go an experience all the different markets Toronto has to offer! Last weekend was China town this weekend was Korean! We wanted to make sushi so we headed to an amazing market that had everything and anything you would need! I always go crazy in those markets buying things I have no idea what to do with!!! Here are some iPhone snaps from the weekend!*

wedding outfit details...

I loved what I wore to Lauren & Ewan's wedding. It was such a fluke that I found this dress. I originally had decided to wear a dress I had purchased from Lulu's for my trip to Vegas, but after chatting with the girls and hearing their choices I decided I needed something a little more fancy. I randomly browsed through RW&CO and found this stunning chiffon and lace maxi dress in coral {here}. As soon as I tried it on it new it was perfect! The price was also perfect...$88! How could I pass that up?! I paired it with a gold clutch {borrowed}, earrings {coach & borrowed} and cuff {from The Bay: $16} and a pair of gold BCBG pumps I had purchased last summer for the wedding we attended in P.E.I.

Chiffon & Lace Maxi Dress: $88

I decided to get my hair done due to the humidity and the fact that I'm terrible at attempting anything nice with my hair for special occasions!  A friend of mine is a hair stylist and created this beautiful side bun for the day!*

Outfit of the Day: Comfortable

Today I woke up with yet another migraine and was late getting to work {3 hours late}, so I didn't really feel like putting too much effort into my outfit since I wasn't feel well and was only working a half day. As I mentioned in one of my other outfit of the day posts {here}, I can get away with wearing my Wunder Under leggings to the office {which is a saviour on days like today!} so...that's what I did! I paired them with one of my favorite BCBG neck tie blouses I got at a Bay Days sale {best.sale.ever!} seen {here}and a simple black Zara cardigan seen {here}! Thank god tomorrow is casual Friday!*

BCBG Neck-Tie Blouse: $42 (sale) BCBG and The Bay

Outfit of the Day: Pink Cardigan

Happy Monday?!  I hope everyone had a wonderful weekend! On Friday I went to check out the Crossiron Mills Outlet Mall just outside Calgary! Its amazing!  Its massive! There's awesome outlets such as Coach, Coach Men, Michael Kors, BCBGMAXAZARIA {everything was 50% off}, Browns Shoes and Bass Pro Shop {massive!}. Then they have regular retail stores with very discounted everything!  I basically got all my Christmas shopping done in one stop! I also picked up a few things for myself... {sale items of course!}. I usually avoid Forever 21, basically because I hate searching and sifting through racks to find something I like. But right at the front of the store they had $17 boyfriend cardigans! SOLD! They are available in 4 colours, nude, hot pink, yellow or jade . I opted for the nude!  How can you pass up at $17 cardigan? I also picked up at grey tanktop for $3.80! Today I'm also wearing a silver and blue Pashmina I bought from a scarf store downtown Calgary {2 for $15}! And of course my staple J-Brand Maria Jeans and Michael Kors pumps {I really need new work shoes!}*

Classic Boyfriend Cardigan: $17 Forever 21
Grey Tank: $3.80 Forever 21
J Brand Maria Jean: $200 J Brand
Michael Kors Heels: $150 Browns Shoes
Pashmina: $7.50

Outfit of the Day: Exeter Blazer

I usually rotate through the same 5 or 6 outfits throughout the work week until I buy a new piece and incorporate it into my wardrobe {so the OOTD posts might start lacking}. Today, I'm not wearing anything new, but I am wearing a combination of pieces I haven't tried together before. My Aritzia Exeter Blazer is pretty much a staple for my "business casual" outfits {I desperatly need a new one, and one in another colour}. And since I work in a fairly laid back office I can get away with wearing my Wunder Under Leggings. As I mentioned in my first OOTD post, I have a lot of issues getting ready for work in the morning. Thankfully, a blog I follow {Veronika's Blushing} posted about this very problem. Her post "Five Tips on How to Look Polished/Put Together (90% of the time)" provides a lot of good tips and suggestions for getting ready in the morning with very little time! I was so happy to read that I was not the only girl in this world having an issue in the morning! You can read it {here}!*

Outfit of the Day: Polka Dots

The weather in Calgary has warmed up quite a bit! {is -1 warm?} So today {Thursday} I decided I could get away with wearing my favorite Polka Dot dress to work to as long a I wore nylons {and boots for the commute}!*

Dress - Ya Los Angeles: $79 Purr Clothing or Ya Los Angeles
Talula Exeter Blazer: $125 Aritzia
Michael Kors Shoes: $150 Browns Shoes

Outfit of the Day: Pink Flowers

I've decided to start posting "Outfits of the Day". Recently I've been having a lot of issues getting ready for work in the morning. I feel everything I own that is "business casual" doesn't fit me right or looks weird. Every job I've ever had before this one I've had to wear a uniform, I use to loath it. But now I secretly miss it! Since unifroms were a staple in my life for the past 10 years my wardrobe has become very casual {except for the essential going out dresses and rompers}. Trying to figure out what to wear everyday has taken me back to those stressful mornings of high school where you felt you needed to dress to impress. At least in University you could get away wearing Lulu's and hoodies everyday. I'm hoping by posting my weekday outfits I can get some feeback from you guys on what looks good and what I should probably never wear again!*

Yesterday {Wednesday} I could not for the life of me get a decent photo of my outfit {I think I need a better camera and a larger mirror}. Anyways, so for the sake of the post I created a set on Ployvore to show you what I wore because I really liked it!*
