Sunday Night at the Oscars*

So last night was the 84th Annual Academy Awards, and I obviously planned my whole day around preparing our Oscar party for 2, watching the red carpet and of course the awards! It's been a tradition with my friends for the past few years to order chinese food, fill out our ballots and pool together any spare change/gift cards as a prize!  Since I'm across the country this year, Jon and I had our own Oscar party! We filled out ballots {which I won}, made crab-cakes and cupcakes and drank Skinny Girl Margaritas and wine!

Having DVR definitely comes in handy when watching award shows that are as long as the Oscars are! Fast forwarding through all the red carpet commentary and speeches you aren't necessarily interested in makes watching so much better! I thought Billy Crystal was hilarious! He always does such a great job! And E! News also did an awesome job at reporting form the red carpet...! I wasn't overly impressed with the looks last night, but the ladies that nailed it looked classic and chic...very Academy Awards appropriate. Here are my favorite looks form last night!

Penelope Cruz in Armani

Maya Rudolph in Johanna Johnson

Milla Jovovich in Ellie Saab
{my #1 choice}

Stacey Keibler in Marchesa

Michelle Williams in Louis Vuitton
{loved the coral colour}

Cameron Diaz  in Gucci

Missi Pyle in an eco-friendly dress

Giuliana Rancic in Tony Ward Couture
{this would have been my #1 but I think she looks too skinny, but the dress is stunning}

Friday Favorites*

While I was visiting my friend in Niagara Falls earlier this week we made quick trip over to Buffalo, NY to do some shopping! I really wanted to it hit Jason Wu for Target and Kohl's Department store to see what Lauren Conrad swag they had! I was kind of disappointed with the Jason Wu selection {literally one rack} needless to say we didn't purchase any Jason Wu {I did get a cute Mossimo dress!} However, Kohl's is amazing! If you've never been, go! It's like an American Winner's....but way better! Everything is an additional 20-50% off! It's amazing! Let's just say, I splurged on some Lauren Conrad clothes! I had such an amazing time at home! I saw all my friends and family...did and went everywhere I wanted! It was so jammed packed and went by too quickly.... :( I realized how much I miss Ontario and all my friends but this trip also solidified how important it was for us to move across the country...!*

After a long flight after work {my last day!} I finally got back to Ontario! My plane got in around midnight but it only took about 10 minutes to get my luggage which was amazing! ..love LOVE love*!

Happy Valentine's Day everyone! I hope you're all surrounded by the one/one's you love today! Even if you don't have a romantic/special Valentine this year....don't feel lonely.... make the best of this day and spend it with your bestest friend, your favorite pet, your family or treat yourself!?

This will be Jon and my 2nd Valentine's Day together! Last year...we decided to make sushi and drink Saki! It was so delicious, but we made way too much for just the 2 of us!

{excuse the horrible picture, this was taken on my old Blackberry}

This year, Jon has to work late and I have to pack and get ready for my trip home {TOMORROW!} So...he surprised me last night when I got home from work with a beautiful orchid and a wonderful home made dinner complete with pink sparkling wine! I took a bunch of photos on my camera that I will post later! But for now...

Happy Valentine's Day my loves!  Have the most wonderful day!

And the Grammy goes to.....*

So last night was the 54th Grammy Awards...and after waiting an extra 3 hours for it to air on the west coast, I was happily surprised! I thought it was well done! {I could have done without Chris Brown's lip syncing performance and Grammy win}. I also thought the producers of the show did a wonderful job paying tribute to the recent passing of the legendary Whitney Houston. Everything that was said and done was respectful and classy, and it was hard to watch her closest friends fight back the tears on the red carpet. But the show must go on I suppose!

I'm so happy for Adele! Winning a total of 6 awards! That girl deserves it 100%! Her performance was flawless, only solidifying why she deserves these 6 awards! {and I was secretly happy when she beat out Taylor Swift...!} For a complete list of the winners from last night click here!

Worst Performance(s) of the night....Maroon 5, Foster the People and the Beach Boys....it was painful to watch and of course Chris Brown, but that's a given.

Best Performance(s): ADELE obviously! Rihanna and Coldplay! For some reason I loved Katy Perry's new song Part of Me, the whole performance was just one huge dig at Russel Brand and I kind of loved it and loved her for doing it! And I think Bruno Mars killed it!

Anyways, I thought everyone looked stunning last night on the red carpet a few misses *cough* Nikki Minaj...a little too weird for me! But, here are my favorite looks from the night!

Rihanna took my #1 spot! She looked smokin' good! I really have nothing more to say about this look!

I wish I had seen the back of Carrie Underwood's dress on the red carpet. But I thought she looked flawless as usual!

I actually loved Fergie's look....It's the Grammy's! If I had her body, I would wear this too!

I'm happy Katy Perry chose a more mature, put together look for her post-divorce debut! I think she looked stunning!

And of course Adele looked like perfection in her head to toe sparkle! Queen's deserve a lot of sparkle! Her makeup was flawless! I love her exaggerated eyes...

...the weekend in photos

Just like I predicted this weekend was pretty low key. I'm not feeling even a little bit better so I spent most of the weekend lounging around, reading and getting some Valentine's stuff together {which I won't post until after Valentine's Day}. I did however manage to get to the mall to purchase myself two celebratory pairs of shoes!  I went specifically to Little Burgundy for the hibou Lamerti booties and saw that these Michael Kors pumps in grey patient leather were on sale from $148 to $84.00 with an extra 30% off....I could not resist!  I also swung by Bath & Body Works on my way out and picked up a few 4oz  Slatkin & Co. candles in their new tropical scents! {It was also buy 1 get 1 free!} How was your weekend? It was incredibly sad to hear about the passing of Whitney Houston, but I will dedicate a post to her and the Grammy's tomorrow!*

Michael Kors Minchew Pump: $60 Little Burgundy

hibou Lamerti Booties: $90 Little Burgundy

Tropical Slatkin & Co Candles 4oz: $12.00/each Bath & Body Works

and the rest of my weekend went something like this...

Friday Favorites*

T.G.I.F! This was a pretty interesting week. I was sick {and still am} for the majority, barley pulling half days at work...not sleeping and having a sick puppy and bf has made this week go so slowly. But the good news is....I was offered a new job! This was a huge stress relief! I actually felt like 100 pounds was lifted off my shoulders! In a previous post {here} I told you that myself and 5 other co-workers were being laid off come March 1st. With my upcoming trip to Ontario {5 days!!} I was totally stressed about money and coming back to unemployment! But not anymore! I'm so excited to be able to go back home and not worry about anything! This weekend is shaping up to be pretty low key, I need to get rid of this head cold so I'm not sick when I'm in Ontario. We plan on catching up on sleep, grabbing a few congratulatory Bulldogs from our favorite Mexican restaurant, Julio's Barrio and maybe celebrating an early Valentine's?! But for now here are my favorite things from this past week! Happy weekend everyone!*

Sophia Grace and Rosie rap on Ellen! {Click photo to watch}
Also watch for them on the Grammy's Red Carpet this Sunday!

If you can believe it, I've never had Creme Brulee before Monday night. We went to a French bistro, The Brasserie, as a send off dinner for my bf's mom and I gave in! It was so delicious, with the sweet crispy top and the fresh vanilla beans and fruit! Delicious!

So since I was sick at home all week {and day time T.V sucks} I browsed my video on demand selections and saw this one! One of my best friends would not stop talking about how amazing this movie was a few years back and I never got around to watching it! And she was right! Such a frustrating love story! If you haven't yet...do it!

I saw these Nine West Around Town Pumps on a blog called Fiction, Flight, & Everything Nice  {definitely check it out!} in a cranberry purple, and I fell in love! I couldn't find them on the Nine West website, but Melissa over at the blog sent me the link to Amazon where you can get them {for much cheaper!} I love how they look on her pair with her awesome green sweater!

The Artizia Spring 2012 look-book found it's way into my inbox! Everything looks so girly and wonderful! I can't wait for it to hit stores! {click the photo to browse the collection!)
